The Pennys debut first video off new EP at Raven Sings The Blues

Two West Coast faves collide in a new project this week, unveiling the first single from The Pennys. The band brings together Mike Ramos (Flowertown, Tony Jay, Cindy) and Ray Serephin (R.E. Seraphin, Talkies, Glitz). The first single finds a middle ground between the two songwriters’ styles; soft, but not as lost in the haze as Ramos often finds himself, pop-strewn, but not as brightly hued as Seraphin’s usual gems. Detailing the slow dissolution of a relationship, the song pines, streaked with smudged tears and unhurried jangles. Below the buoyant pop, guitars fuzz with a hint of radio static, swaying the listener on waves and winds that bring hints of heartbroken pop from the coffers of the past. The band is rounded out with a few other familiar names: Yea-Ming Chen (Yea-Ming and the Rumours, RYLI) Owen Adair Kelley (Talkies, Sleepy Sun) and Luke Robbins.

The Pennys’ self-titled EP will be released by Mt.St.Mtn in Spring 2025
